Two bursaries, the Arsalan Mohajer Bursary and the Past Presidents’ Bursary, of up to $5,000 each will be awarded. Metcalfe Geoheritage Park opened on September 24, 2016
Twelve years of planning and construction culminated Saturday in the official opening of Almonte’s Metcalfe Geoheritage Park in its permanent home at the bottom of Bay Hill. Nearly a hundred people turned out for Saturday’s opening. Speakers included Dr. Al Donaldson, Dr. Greg Brooks, Dr. Bill Pearson, Lesley Hymers, Scott Newton and Mayor Shaun McLaughlin. Metcalfe Geoheritage Park is Canada’s first municipally-run geoheritage park. see more

The APGO Education Foundation: A New Charitable Foundation for the Geosciences
The APGO Education Foundation (“Ed Fdn”) is a new charitable Foundation for the geosciences. Its mission is to provide financial and other support to:

• Promote a greater public understanding of geoscience;
• Support the individuals who study geoscience; and
• Support the practice of professional geoscience.

Founded by Dr. Bill Pearson, P.Geo, APGO’s first president, the Ed Fdn will be launching a Scholarship and Bursary program in early 2016. Scholarships will support post-secondary students in the 3rd year of a geoscience study program at an Ontario university. Bursaries will support immigrants to Canada who are internationally-trained geoscientists and have demonstrated financial need for completion of licensure procedures for registration as a professional geoscientist in Ontario. see more
