Kristin Hanson, M.Sc., P.Geo., FGC

Kristin Hanson, M.Sc., P.Geo, FGC is a Hydrogeologist with 25 years of experience in the environmental consulting business, where she has developed technical expertise in contaminated site assessment and remediation.  Kristin was born and raised in the United States, and earned her B.Sc. in Environmental Geology from Ohio University.  Working for five years in the field provided numerous, sometimes humorous, opportunities for learning practical lessons about the practice of geoscience in the real world.  Striving to expand her technical knowledge, she left the working world to pursue a Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology at The Ohio State University.  Kristin immigrated to Canada after finishing her master’s degree.

Kristin is Vice President of Operations (Ontario) for the Environment & Water group at SNC-Lavalin.  In her management role, Kristin focuses on combining technical skills and people skills to solve problems.

Valuable experience was gained through her eight years of volunteer work on PGO Council, including serving as Council President in 2011-2012.  Kristin is passionate about encouraging young people, especially women, to pursue science, technology and engineering as a career path.  The APGO Education Foundation gives Kristin an opportunity to pursue that passion by supporting young people in the study of geosciences, and educating the public about the profession of geoscience.
